What Planet HoHo is
Not every child gets presents from Santa Claus. Across the 55 countries on this site there are 64 different gift-bringers and eight different gift days. Ježíšek comes on the evening of 24 December in Czechia, Sinterklaas on 5 December in the Netherlands, the Three Kings on the night of 5 to 6 January in Spain, and in Ukraine St Nicholas and Christmas fall on different dates depending on the church calendar a family follows.
Planet HoHo answers one question for each country: who brings the presents, and when. Most countries also have a guide written in the local language, with markets and light displays where we have checked dates, local traditions and recipes, and free tools for families that run in your browser: letters to and from the gift-bringer, Secret Santa, an advent calendar, printable puzzles and a countdown.
Where the facts come from
Dates, opening times and addresses are read from the organiser, the town or another primary source, and the page names that source and the date it was read. When a source for 2026 comes from someone other than the organiser (a city page, a tourism board, local press), the date is marked as expected. A fact we could not confirm is left out, not guessed. The full method is on the how we check page.
Country texts are written for each country rather than translated from one English original. A sentence that fits every country is of no use to any of them.
Prices appear only when they were read on the shop’s own page, with the shop and the day next to the figure. We do not follow prices afterwards and do not promise a discount. What people write on forums is used to decide which questions a page must answer, never as a fact about a place, and is paraphrased, not quoted.
Pictures and names
Photos by other people are used under free licences, with the author and licence under each photo. Illustrations made with AI image tools are labelled as such and show no real people or events. Product and event names, and trademarks such as those of toys or postal brands, belong to their owners and are used only to say what is being described. Planet HoHo is independent of every organiser, shop, brand or postal service it mentions.
Who pays for it
Nobody. The site shows no advertising and has no paid listings and no affiliate links. Links to shops are plain searches that earn us nothing, and no market or event can pay to be included or ranked higher.
What we know about you
Very little. What you type into a tool stays in your browser. There is no analytics at all and no cookies; the server keeps ordinary access logs for up to 14 days. Details, line by line, are on the privacy page.
Corrections and removal
If a date, a place or a custom is wrong, write to us with the page address and, if you have it, a link to the right source. If you own a place or a home shown here and want an address or a photo removed, we do it within 48 hours. Contact: admin@planethoho.com.
